Kathmandu, May 17: A global campaign 'Experience Nepal' has kicked off in an effort to attract tourists to Nepal from different parts of the world. Nepal Tourism Board in cahoots with Himalayan Bank and American Express has put in place the campaign in view of the Nepal Tourism Year-2020.
At an inaugural session of the campaign on Thursday evening, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada expressed his confidence that the global campaign would substantially contribute to bring more numbers of tourists to Nepal from different parts.
Talking about experience
Nepal has taken a stride to the path of rapid economic progress and the campaign for tourism promotion is highly relevant as it is the important base for infrastructure development and making collaboration with partner organizations effective, the minister noted.
Currently, Nepal has the capacity to accommodate 2.5 million foreign tourists, he said, adding there would be no trouble to welcome five million tourists within 10 years. "Tourism related infrastructure development is gaining momentum to reach the target of bringing in 5 million tourists in coming 10 years".
The under-construction Gautam Buddha International Airport is coming into operation soon and the constructions of other regional international airports are also speeding up. In this context, it is critically important to spread a message that Nepal is an attractive and secured destination for tourists, Minister Khatiwada recommended. RSS
