KATHMANDU, Aug. 6: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has slapped a cash fine Rs 200,000 on Everest Mart Store Pvt Ltd in Thahiti, Kathmandu, after the business outlet was found selling goods at a price higher than the maximum retail price (MRP).
According to the DoCSCP, the penalty was imposed as per the law after the shop was confirmed to have breached the state law during regular market monitoring. The DoCSCP grilled the store under the charge of violating the Consumer Protection Act 2018.

Meanwhile, the DoCSCP has directed Grishma Enterprises Pvt Ltd, a gas depot, to appear before the regulator with necessary documents within three days. The depot has been asked to appear with business registration documents, gas sales details and purchase and sale bills since July-end.
Similarly, Nepal Gas Industry Pvt. Ltd. has been instructed to manage the demand and supply of gas in the market as per the standards set by the government and Grishma Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. (Anamnagar) has been instructed to ensure proportional and dispute-free distribution of gas.
