KATHMANDU, June 1: Nepalflix, an entertainment platform, has been announced as the official digital broadcast partner for the 2018 season of the TVS Everest Premier League (TVS EPL) on Thursday.

As per the agreement, the TVS EPL has granted the worldwide exclusive digital distribution rights to Nepalflix, a live streaming android application, for distributing both live and highlights of all its matches.

The initiative of Chaudhary Group and Bongo, who are the market leader in digital entertainment in Bangladesh, Nepalflix’s Chief Operating Officer Karel Kuiperi signed the agreement papers in an official signing program held in Kathmandu.

“As a cricket lover, I am delighted to see the development of the game in Nepal. A professionally organized tournament like the EPL is an opportunity to showcase Nepali cricket around the world. Nepalflix will target international audiences as well as Nepalis living abroad, thanks to our strong distribution network with telecom operators in Malaysia and the Middle East,” said Kuiperi.

Nepalflix is a new video-streaming platform serving visual content to audiences in Nepal and abroad. Nepalflix will launch its android application later this year and will be available on YouTube as well.

The founder of the TVS EPL Aamir Akhtar believed the digital broadcasting collaboration will make new season of the EPL even bigger than last time.

“The key factor for success of any league is its stakeholders, and we believe, in Nepalflix we have found the right digital broadcast partner. With the expertise of Nepalflix, we can promote the TVS EPL globally and in turn, promote Nepali cricket as well. With the experience and proficiency of the Nepalflix team, we can expect a glitch-free, easily accessible, and properly marketed and disseminated digital content at your fingertips,” said Akhtar speaking in the program.

Akhtar also hinted the marquee cricket tournament will begin in November this year with dates yet to be finalized.

Similarly, the number of franchises is set to remain six until 2020 edition of the premier league. The EPL management is currently focused in raising the tournament’s standard through global and local partnerships.
