EPG univocal on amendment, rewriting, review of 1950 Treaty

KATHMANDU, April 6: The Eminent Persons Group (EPG) on Nepal-India relations has agreed to make a common voice on amendment, rewriting and review of the Nepal-India Treaty on Peace and Friendship-1950. 


At a news conference after the meeting of the EPG on Thursday, Coordinator of Nepali group and former minister for Foreign Affairs Bheikh Bahadur Thapa said that intensive discussions were held in all articles of the Treaty as well as all the aspects of the bilateral issues. 


Thapa said, "We shared all things by incorporating each part and parcel in the EPG meeting held in the peaceful manner. The India side has listened to our presentations attentively." 
He also expressed his confidence to arrive to a conclusion in the given timeframe of two years adding that the meeting is proceeding in a positive nod. 


As per the agreement, the fourth meeting of the EPG is being held on 29-31 May in Dehradun, India. 
Thapa also added that the Nepali and India teams discussed to hold a meeting in the bordering areas as well. RSS
