Encouraging music in Nepal: 14th Tuborg Image Award

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: 14th Annual Image Award concluded successfully at Army Officer’s Club amid performances by various artists and short skits by presenters of Image Channel. Starting with a short artistic introduction of Radio Nepal, Image Channel and some of the most popular Nepali songs, the audience then proceeded to enjoy Deepak Bajracharya’s peppy performances.



Renowned lyricist, Yadav Kharel, was presented with the Image Lifetime Achievement Award. In his acceptance speech, Kharel acknowledged Image Channel and all his listeners. “I’m very grateful to those who have respected art,” he said.[break]



Artists like Satya Raj Acharya and Sworup Raj Acharya, Jabeek, Milan Amatya, Babita Manandhar amongst many others kept the audience entertained. The event came to a close with Mt 8848’s performing their hit song ‘Budeshkal ko lathi’.



R K Manandhar, Managing Director of Image Channel, said, “We established Image Channel with the intention of encouraging and helping develop, even in a small way, the music industry of Nepal. We hope that we have managed to do so.”
