Embrace Solitude

Embrace Solitude

The term solitude means the state of being alone. Most people believe that being alone will not give us happiness in life. Not surprisingly, the world is now becoming tough for us due to the cut-throat competition.

So, realizing this harsh reality, one of the best ways to lead is by seeking and enjoying solitude. Your disciplined mind will make you successful. Having said that, it is also important to note that there is a world of difference between solitude and loneliness though the two terms are often used interchangeably.

From the outside, solitude and loneliness look a lot alike. Both are characterized by aloofness. But, this assumption ends at surface level because loneliness is a negative state marked by a sense of too much isolation. And one can feel that something is missing.

On the other hand, solitude is the state of being alone without being lonely. It is a positive and constructive state of engagement with oneself. Believe me, a state of being alone where you provide yourself sufficient company gives you a verified truth about life at the end of a day.

Besides that, solitude is a time that can be used for self reflection and inner searching. It is peacefulness stemming from a state of inner richness. After all, it is a medium of enjoying the quietness and whatever it brings along. It is a satisfying feeling that helps us draw nourishment into our lives.

Solitude is refreshing, an opportunity to renew ourselves. In other words, it recharges us. Solitude is something you choose whereas loneliness is a result of social discard.

Sometimes solitude is essential because it gives us time to explore and know ourselves.

It gives us a chance to regain perspective in life.

Solitude allows us to come back into the position of driving our own lives rather than giving others the control. To sum up, solitude restores mind and body in a positive way, while loneliness diminishes confidence and critical thinking.
