Billionaire Elon Musk has separated with his Canadian girlfriend Grimes after three years together, the tech boss told a publication on Friday. The Tesla boss, in his interview with New York Post's Page Six, said that the two are now "semi-separated" and remain on good terms.

Musk has a one-year-old son X Æ A-Xii Musk with singer Grimes. The two will be co-parenting their child, the report further said. The billionaire further said that the two frequently see each other.

"We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms," Musk said.

The Tesla boss said that his work at SpaceX and Tesla need him to be in Texas or traveling, while Grimes has to be in LA for her work. "It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA," Page Six quoted Musk as saying. "She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

As soon as the news about Musk's break-up with Grimes got out, Twitter started flooding with posts worrying who gets the custody of Baby X, who instantly became a celebrity on the Internet after his parents named him X Æ A-Xii Musk.

Apart from Baby X, Musk is a father to six children with his first wife Jennifer Justine Wilson with whom he was married to for eight years.

Memes on the couple's separation have started making rounds on the social media with netizens asking "who will get custody of R2D2?"
