Elections will be held preparing calendar: Deuba

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said that the three-tier of elections would be held by January 2018. 

Addressing a program organized by the Nepal Students Union here in the capital today, leader Deuba added that the elections would be held by preparing the calendar for the purpose adding that the elections were essential to forward the political course ahead and speed up the economic progress. 

In another context, he informed that he held discussions with CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli regarding to hold the elections sharing that Chair Oli was positive to hold the elections.

He further opined for holding elections in new federal set up if possible otherwise in existing local units as well. 

He blamed the UML saying that it tried to split the Madhesi and Hilly people in the name of changing of border of Province No 5. 

Leader Deuba further directed student leaders to be united for the free students union's election. 

Similarly, NC general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala stressed on the efforts of giving way out to the country forging consensus among the political parties. He stressed on the implementation of the constitution. 

Likewise, party leader Prakash Man Singh said that the NC should initiate for the implementation of the constitution as it was issued under the leadership of the party itself. 

He urged the NSU to exert pressure for the implementation of the constitution. 

Similarly, party leader and Foreign Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat stressed on the party unity for the implementation of the constitution. 

On the occasion NSU former chairs and NC central members Govinda Bhattarai, Pradip Poudel, NSU chair Nain Sing Mahar, Nepal Tarun Dal Chair Jitjung Basnet among other leaders had also addressed the program. RSS
