Election to appoint parley committee heads on Sept 11

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Parliament Secretariat has announced election date to appoint chairpersons of 10 different thematic committees under the House of Representatives (HoR). 

The election has been scheduled for September 19 at 11 am onwards. The election, earlier, had postponed twice. 

Those vying for the post will have to file their candidacy between 11 to 5 pm tomorrow, according to a press release issued by HoR Secretary Gopalnath Yogi. The candidacy will have to be seconded by a fellow member. 

The HoR Secretariat thereafter will publish the list of the registered proposal in its registration order. 

On Friday, the candidates will present their proposal that ought to be seconded by the supporter and then the proposal would be presented for the final decision.

The Secretariat, in its press statement, has mentioned that it has already requested the concerned authority to apprise them about in which committee's election the Prime Minister and Ministers would cast their vote. 

The parliamentary committees under the HoR are the Financial Committee; the International Relations Committee; the Industry and Commerce Committee; Labour and Consumer Interest Committee; the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee; the Agriculture and Cooperatives Committee; and the Natural Resources Committee. 

Likewise, other committees are the Women and Social Committee; the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee; the Development and Technology Committee; the Education and Health Committee; and the Public Account Committee. 

The Committee on Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of the State's Directive Principles, Polices and Responsibilities has been recently formed in the federal parliament. 

Similarly, the thematic committees under the National Assembly include the Legislation Management Committee; the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee; the Committee on Delegated Legislation and Government Assurance; and the National Concern and Coordination Committee.
