BIRATNAGAR, Nov 29: Nepali Congress (NC) is going to hold reelection for the post of president of Morang district. The re-poll will be held after none of the three candidates got the required number of votes on Sunday.
According to Ganesh Bhujel, assistant election officer, Morang, none of the candidates- Dig Bahadur Limbu, Dilip Gachchhadar and Yadukumar Bista could get 51 percent of the votes. According to Bhujel, the possibility of holding the election on Monday is low as polling stations have to be changed.
He said, "Since the polling station has to be changed, it has not been decided when the election will be held." As soon as the election was held on Sunday, the votes were counted at the District Party Office, Morang. A total of 3,414 votes were cast and 3,360 votes were cast for the post of president.
Limbu got 1,544 votes, Gachchhadar got 1,166 votes and Bista got 563 votes. Although the total number of voters in the district is 3,517, the number of votes cast in Sunday's election was less than 100. According to the Election Committee, 147 votes were invalid.
