POKHARA, April 19: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi has said that the upcoming local level elections were an historical opportunity for all political parties.
Speaking at the concluding session of the western-regional security symposium here Wednesday, he said the Government is ready to guarantee the security of all parties, voters and staff in the election, and urged all to not let this important opportunity go waste. "The government is ready for a single phase election on May 14, but it could be held in two phases provided the Madhesi morcha comes to a consensus," he said.
He however said that the date scheduled for elections would not be postponed at any cost, while sharing that efforts were on to bring the dissenting parties to a consensus.
Chief District Officers, and heads of Nepal Police, Armed Police and National Investigation Offices in all the 16 districts in the region took part in the day-long symposium. RSS
