"We distributed the ID cards by reaching their respective villages," said Sharma, adding, "We managed to distribute around 250 ID cards in two days."

Many elderly people were deprived of their ID cards, as they could not reach the municipality office on their own. This program was especially focused on the elderly citizens from the poor and marginalized communities. Ward chief Rajendra Paudel informed Republica that the two-day camp was organized in the ward office to distribute elderly ID cards to the senior citizens.

Despite being eligible, many elderly citizens were deprived of government provided allowances and services as they did not have ID cards. The municipality organized this camp in coordination with the Social Development Branch of the local unit.

Elderly citizens between 60 to 95 years of age benefited from the camp. The municipality has announced to conduct similar camps in far-flung villages as well.
