KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The government has appointed Ek Narayan Aryal as the new Chief Secretary of Nepal.
A Cabinet meeting on Thursday promoted Aryal, who currently serves as the Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, to the highest position in Nepal’s civil service. The government selected Aryal for the role despite ranked fourth in terms of seniority among the contenders for the post.

The current Chief Secretary, Liladevi Gadtaula, who made history as Nepal’s first female Chief Secretary, is set to retire on Friday. She was appointed to the post on July 25, 2024.
