Eighth NHRIFF postponed as precautionary measure to check possible spread of COVID-19

Human Rights Film Center (HRFC) has decided to postpone the eighth Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival (NHRIFF), which was scheduled to kick off on March 4, due to the risk of Corona infection.

According to the press statement issued by HRFC, they made this decision honoring the appeal of Government of Nepal not to organize any meetings, conference, festivals, gathering and any other events where there is the participation of a large number of people, as a precautionary measure to check the possible spread of COVID-19 (Corona).

It added the organizer appreciated the government’s appeal and had halted the festival and will declare the next date of the festival once the situation is under control.

NHRIFF is an annual event organized by HRFC where films with the theme of human rights issues globally are screened. For this edition, the organizers had selected 84 films from 32 countries for screening and a total of 22 filmmakers from 17 countries were going to travel to Nepal for their participation, which has been postponed.
