KATHMANDU, Nov 13: Police have arrested eight people along with Rs 500,000 in cash from an illegal gambling den in Gairigaun, Kathmandu.

According to Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Basnet, who is spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office, they were arrested while they were playing kauda on the rented land of a local Nawaraj Poudel. The land is used to grow vegetables.
The gamblers were arrested last night by a police team from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Boudha, on the basis of a special tip off received by police. A statement issued by the police said that Rs 511,500 in cash was also recovered from the gambling den. Metropolitan Police Circle Boudha is conducting further investigation into the incident.
