KATHMANDU, Oct 11: The Election Commission (EC) has stated that the advertisement made on social media for the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections will be included in the election expenses of the candidates.
Shaligram Sharma Paudel, spokesperson for the commission, through a statement on Monday, said that along with the registration of nomination papers of candidates, various political parties and candidates have also started campaigning and advertising using social media.

"According to the policy on the use of social media in election management 2077BS, it is stated that social media will be used appropriately in all stages and processes of the election," he said. Continuous monitoring and evaluation is being done.
The commission has determined the extent of election expenses that parties and candidates can make for the House of Representatives and provincial assembly elections.
In Section 16 of the Election Code of Conduct 2079, there is a provision of conduct to be followed by political parties and candidates regarding election expenses. The commission has requested all parties and candidates to keep the details of all the expenses of advertisements on social media. The records in the commission's monitoring system will be checked to see if the candidates have included the expenses of the advertisement on social media in the election expenditure statement submitted in accordance with the law after the election is over.
