KATHMANDU, Sept. 1: Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has announced to implement stern policies to enforce the election code of conduct.

At an orientation programme organized for the government secretaries and joint-secretaries to be deployed for election monitoring for the third phase of local polls scheduled on September 18, Yadav said, "Zero tolerance policy would be adopted against violation of election code of conduct."

The officials involved in monitoring should play special roles to end the weaknesses to be created due to lack of coordination, adding that the violation of election code of conduct is taking place in the name of relief distribution in the Tarai districts.

On the occasion, Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah also said that most of the cases of violation of election code of conduct are from the government side.

Two secretaries and 16 joint secretaries have been mobilized for monitoring in 136 local levels of eight districts in Province No. 2. RSS
