EC seeks clarification from Dr Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, May 13: The Election Commission (EC) has demanded an explanation from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai as he posted a picture of his ballot paper on his social media handle.

According to EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, a letter has been sent to Dr Bhattarai to submit an explanation within 24 hours stating that he has committed an offense as per Sub-section (2) of section 9 of the Election (Offenses and Punishment) Act, 2073 BS.

Dr Bhattarai had taken a photo of him placing a stamp on the ballot paper and made it public from his social media handle on Friday morning.
