KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Election Commission (EC) has announced that by-elections for vacant positions at the local level will be held on December 1, 2024.

The commission has laid out a detailed schedule to ensure the orderly conduct of the elections. As per the schedule, notices for political party registration will be issued on September 25, with registration taking place from September 26 to October 2. Party registrations will be approved by October 6, alongside preparations for election guidelines and procedures.
Key dates include the publication of the final voter list on November 11 and the establishment of polling booths and election officer offices by November 15. Likewise, the election program, covering 62 activities, will be carried out between November 17 and December 1.
