EC makes election programs public for local level polls

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Election Commission has made the election programs public for the upcoming local level elections.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Election Commission has made the election programs public for the upcoming local level elections.



The commission's meeting on Wednesday set the election schedule and made it public.


According to Election Commissioner Ishwari Paudel, the EC has scheduled April 29 for filing candidacies while May 1 is slated for withdrawing candidacies if anybody wants. Likewise, the Election Commission is scheduled to provide election symbols to the candidates on May 2. The government has declared the date of May 14 for holding the local level elections.

"The Election Commission is determined to hold the local level elections on May 14," said Paudel.


Though the election date is declared, the government is yet to finalize the numbers and demarcation of local levels as per the recommendations of the commission formed to restructure local units.
