EC gears to declare HoR results after NA elections

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Following tomorrow’s National Assembly elections, a source at the Election Commission said that they were gearing up to publish the results of Proportional Representations of House of Representatives.

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Following tomorrow’s National Assembly elections, a source at the Election Commission said that they were gearing up to publish the results of Proportional Representations of House of Representatives.   


Post National Assembly elections, the Commission will submit the results to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and urge political parties to give name list of their candidates for the Proportional Representation of the House of Representatives.

Of the 56 seats where parliamentarians will compete, 24 have already been elected unanimously. The National Assembly will house 59 parliamentarians, three of whom will be nominated by the President. However, there still is debate over the three government nominations.    


It is mandatory for all political parties to ensure 33 per cent representation of women candidates in the House of Representatives.
