EC apprises President on election preparations

KATHMANDU, MARCH 31: Election Commission on Friday apprised President Bidya Devi Bhandari about its preparations made so far for holding local level elections on May 14.

In a meeting with the President Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav briefed the head-of-the-state that they have completed almost all the preparations.

According to Commissioner Ishwari Paudyal, CEC Yadav said they are working in a war footing to make the election a success within the stipulated poll date.

"We are working day and night for elections. Parties are also coming closer in forging consensus for elections," Poudyal quoted Yadav as briefed to President. CEC Yadav said preparations are underway to conduct the election across the country at once.

Stating that poll-opposing Madhes-based parties are in intensive discussion with the major political parties, CEC Yadav hoped that ongoing negotiations will bear fruits soon.

In response, President Bhandari thanked the election body for hard work and urged to work with high moral in the days ahead for conducting the election in a free, fair and credible manner.
