PARBAT, Nov 16: A Nepali resident living in the United Kingdom has come to the help of local people of Mallaj Majhphata in Parbat by setting up a digital library in the locality.
The library has been established at the Vidyajyoti Secondary School on the occasion of 84th birthday of the mother of investor Kul Acharya, the investor said. The project costs around Rs 800,000.
The initiative aims to provide the opportunity to children to learn and write, said Acharya, Europe coordinator of Non-Resident Nepali Association. The newly-established library has 10,000 books of various genres including textbooks of grades two to 10 and 20 computers.
There are a total of 362 students in the school.
The library was handed over to the school amid a programme organised on Tuesday. Acharya and his mother were also honoured at the event also attended by District Education Officer Ramesh Raj Poudel and lawmaker Arjun Prasad Joshi and leaders of various political parties. RSS
