KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Police have arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Thug Bahadur KC of the Area Police Office, Butwal, on the charge of extorting money in a case related to gold transactions.
DSP KC was arrested on the charge of demanding Rs 2.5 million for returning the gold brought by a trader in Butwal last November. The team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested DSP KC from his residence last night. It is said that the CIB team recovered 35 tolas of gold and 1.8 million in cash from his residence.

KC, who has already been transferred from the area police office to the district police office Kaski, was preparing to flee on Monday, but the police team from Kathmandu stopped him from doing so and took him into custody.
On the instructions of the Nepal Police headquarters, the investigative team from Kathmandu arrested KC from his residence on Sunday evening. KC is now kept at the District Police Office, Bhairahawa. Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
