KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The validity of the driver’s license in Nepal has now been extended to 10 years. With the publication of the "Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts" in the Nepal Gazette, the existing five-year provision under the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act, 2049 BS, has been officially increased to ten years.
This change will relieve drivers from the hassle of renewing their licenses every five years.

According to the notice in the Gazette, the phrase “for up to five years” in Sub-section (3) of Section 54 of the Act has been replaced with “for up to ten years.” Similarly, the renewal term mentioned in Sub-section (3) of Section 56 has also been changed from “up to five years” to “up to ten years.”
With this new provision, both newly issued and renewed licenses will now be valid for 10 years. The move is expected to reduce congestion at transport offices and make the process more convenient for service seekers.
