Drinking water accessibility in Tokha

BHAKTAPUR, Aug 6: Tokha resident, Ratnakumari Shrestha is satisfied because her community recently concluded a project that ensured drinking water accessibility. Remembering the past Shrestha stated, “We had to wait for hours to fill a single flask. To save time, we used to place our flask in a queue at night.” Shrestha continued that to find a solution to the issue, the community started working. "Though people had different opinions, their problems were the same. So, people of different political parties also united to work for the betterment of the community.” 

Tokha Brihat Khanepani Tatha Sarsafai Upabhokta Samiti was established eight years back, and it has been working actively to solve the drinking water problem. President of the committee, Maila Dangol, informed that 15,000 locals directly benefited from the project. According to Dangol, the Committee has installed 1,260 private household taps so far. Additionally, the committee has also installed eight public taps. 

Vice-president of the committee, Sanubahai Shrestha stated that the committee started distributing water after completing the pipeline layout. Speaking about the future plans Sanubahai Shrestha stated that the committee was looking at installing more pipelines.
