Dream Project selects five singers, musicians

KATHMANDU, Mar 1: The Dream Project has selected five budding singers and musicians after a thorough screening of all the videos it received.

The organizer in a statement issued on Thursday said it received more than 1,000 entries from across the country.

“After careful screenings of all the videos received, the panel of experts selected five budding singers, musicians. These selected contestants will now get a chance to collaborate with musicians from Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory and Arbitrary Records under the aegis of Tuborg Open Sessions," the statement said. “The collaborative videos will be uploaded on Channel Arbitrary and Tuborg Open Sessions Facebook page at a later phase.”

The top five participants are Suneeta Karki from Udaypur, Manish Niroula and Saurav Karki from Biratnagar, and Rajesh Nepali, Saloni Dangol and Aarif Rauf from Kathmandu.

According to the organizer, the Dream Big Project is a part of Tuborg Open Sessions where the chosen participants are given a chance to collaborate and perform at Tuborg Open Sessions platform. Tuborg Open sessions is a YouTube series featuring live studio-recorded performances by some of the prominent Nepali artists, established and emerging, it said.

“The digital platform offers its Open approaches of producing rich Nepali musical collaborations with each other by experiment and mixing various genres,” it said. “Some of the biggest names in Nepali music fraternity, which includes mainly Manoj Kumar KC, Bidhan Shrestha, Deepak Bajracharya, Uday Sotang, Sheetal Moktan, Shreya Sotang, Rohit John Chhettri and Swoopna Suman to name a few.”
