KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Condition of Dr Govinda KC, professor at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), has become unstable on the sixth day of his fast-unto-death.
According to the doctors attending to him, Dr KC's condition has fast deteriorated on the sixth day. During previous hunger strikes it would take around two weeks to reach this level of deterioration. This is serious,” said Dr Divya Singh.
“Dr KC is suffering from muscle cramps, chest pain and dizziness,” said Dr Singh. “Acetone was seen in his urine. Albumin, calcium and protein in blood have dropped,” she said. “He is being administered saline solution, and oxygen in certain intervals.”
Dr KC started his 13th fast-unto-death from October 5, demanding that the government bring Medical Education Act as per the spirit of the recommendation of the Mathema taskforce.
