KATHMANDU, August 18: Prof Dr Govinda KC, who has been running campaigns to bring about reforms in the medical sector in Nepal for years, has postponed his scheduled protest programs after holding talks with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.

Dr KC said that he postponed the programs of hunger strike and others for now after meeting with Prime Minister Deuba. Issuing a press statement, Dr KC said that an agreement has been reached with Prime Minister Deuba to ensure legal provisions to avoid clash of interest while making appointments in the public posts and address issues linked to the State Minister for Health and Population in an appropriate time.

As agreed, the past agreements in regard to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences would be implemented and a senate meeting would be summoned to implement the report submitted earlier by the Task Force led by Secretary Baikuntha Aryal and give a legal shape to the report made for developing criteria for the appointment of office-bearers at the BPKIHS soon after the appointment of Minister.
