KATHMANDU, Oct 28: Dr Govinda KC, who several years ago launched a campaign to improve medical education, has warned to disobey the instructions issued by the Election Commission (EC) against the 'No Not Again' campaign.
Dr KC issued a statement asking the commission to withdraw the directive and warned that if it did not do so, he would start a nonviolent campaign of disobedience against the directive of the commission.
“We earnestly request the Election Commission to immediately withdraw the statement with self-criticism,” he said through the statement. “Otherwise, we want to make it clear that the statement will be disobeyed non-violently for the sake of protecting the civil and political rights of the citizens, ignoring the threat issued by the commission.”'

He claimed that the officials of the commission are trying to curb the freedom of opinion and expression of the citizens rather than making the general election clean, free and fearless.
Similarly, he criticized the commission's decision saying that the commission’s decision to prohibit the 'No Not Again' campaign had exposed its intention of punishing social media users with criminal charges.
"It is clear that the officials of the Election Commission have misused their positions for the continuation of the corrupt syndicate that has been occupying the current national politics for years," the statement reads.
Dr KC said that it is the right of the citizens to express their will to remove those who have trapped the country in the cycle of misrule by sitting on the leadership of the state apparatus and political parties. Dr KC has claimed that the campaign was carried out spontaneously from the citizen level.
