KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Dormani Paudel defeated Astalaxmi Shakya by 10 votes to be elected as the Parliamentary Party leader of CPN (UML) of Province 3. Paudel defeated Shakya in an internal election for the position where Dormani garnered 34 votes while his rival Astalaxmi obtained 24 votes.
Unable to decide on candidate for Chief Minister of Province 3, CPN-UML is holding an internal election today.

Five leaders, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Rajendra Pandey, Dormani Paudel, Rameshwor Phuyal and Ganesh Dulal had planning to compete for the position, while three of them. Rajendra Pandey, Rameshwor Phuyal, Ganesh Dulal were withdraw their names.
As per the agreement between CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center), UML will get the CM seat of Province-3. With the victory in PP leader of the party Dormani seems to be the CM of Province-3.
Of the 110 PA members, 58 are from CPN-UML, which itself is a majority to form provincial government.
