KATHMANDU, June 7: Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) has demanded the government not to merge all cultural organizations under one academy.
Commenting on the government's announcement, through the Budget speech for Fiscal Year 2018/19, to merge all cultural academies like Nepal Academy, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, and Nepal Music and Drama Academy, among others, FHAN has expressed its disagreement on the decision.
Issuing a statement, FHAN has requested the government not to merge all cultural academies under one authority and let them flourish as separate institutions as all them have separate working areas.
"History has witnessed that single academy cannot look after all the cultural institutions. That is why we had to establish separate organizations,” FHAN said in the statement.
