Don't doubt constitution implementation: PM Oli

LALITPUR, Aug 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged one and all not to doubt implementation of constitution and government activities on exercising loktantra. 

During a programme organized on 'Civil and Criminal Code and Their Implementation Challenges' here Thursday, PM Oli said efforts were on to establish the democratic system which is gained with much rigor and struggle. 

He however said if there were any faults on constitution and acts, these could be corrected. According to him, effective role of State is imperative to ensure prosperity in the country. It must be everyone's efforts to keep the system fair and peaceful. 

On the occasion, Acting Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra said the Civil and Criminal Codes were brought after long wait and efforts. It is indeed a happy moment. 

Then Chairman of Council of Ministers, Khilraj Regmi, expressed the belief that the Codes would be helpful to transform society in a positive manner. 

Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha argued that if the rule of law enfeebles, the strengthening of democracy and development remain elusive. "Implementation of these new Codes indicates new era of rule of law in Nepal. These codes have the strict provision on withdrawing case and condoning the culprits," he reminded. 

CPN leader and former Speaker Subash Nembang viewed that the obstruction on the implementation of the Civil and Criminal Codes could be cleared with amendments as per time. 

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, said government was always devoted to effectively implement the Codes. 

Various speakers including Chairman of Nepal Law Society Komal Prakash Ghimire and senior advocate Pushpa Bhushal said the civil society and mass media would have important role to implement the Codes. 

The Codes are coming into effect from tomorrow.
