KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Private airlines have decided to lower airfare from Wednesday.

The Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) on Sunday decided to decrease airfare following reduction in price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).

“We decided to decrease the airfare after the NOC lowered price of ATF,” Prajwal Thapa, manager of Simrik Airlines, said, adding that passengers will benefit from the deduction in airfare.

NOC has reduced price of ATF by Rs 5 per liter, making it Rs 94 per liter.
Airlines make change to fuel surcharge when price of ATF goes up or comes down by a certain margin. The fresh deduction is also on the fuel surcharge.

With the fresh reduction, airfare to Simara and Dhangadhi has come down by Rs 53 and Rs 113, respectively. Airfare to Simara and Dhangadhi will now cost Rs 2,597 and Rs 10,412, respectively. The rates are inclusive of applicable taxes.

Similarly, airfare of mountain flight has come down to Rs 8,825, Pokhara to Rs 4,146, Bhairahwa to Rs 5,199 and Bharatpur to Rs 3,039. Likewise, airfares to Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Nepalgunj and Janakpur now cost Rs 5,944, Rs 7,250, Rs 7,811 and Rs 3,520, respectively.

Airfares to Tumlingtar and Lukla have come down to Rs 4,884 and Rs 3,780, respectively.
Airlines can hike or lower fuel surcharge if there is change in price of ATF by a minimum of Rs 4 per liter.
