KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The Department of Immigration (DoI) returned 76 passengers bound to the UAE at the recommendation of a Lalitpur-based cooperative. They were returned home from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

TIA Chief Immigration Officer Pushpa Raj Shahi shared that the passengers were returned after their objective to go abroad was doubtful. “We sought documents after coming across some suspects. They were scared when we told them that the Department of Immigration would ask for information through a letter to the cooperative. Some of them then returned from the airport voluntarily,” Shahi said.

Shahi said the Immigration Office would inform the Department of Immigration and Home Ministry in writing about the incident. The passengers were bound to fly to Dubai on Saturday evening.
