KATHMANDU, Nov 25: Residents doctors at the Institute of Medicine (IoM), Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), have staged a demonstration at Baluwatar on Friday afternoon.

To exert pressure on the government to fulfill the demands of Dr Govinda KC, they have said that   they will stage demonstration at Maitighar Mandala wearing aprons at 11 am tomorrow.

The agitating doctors have started boycotting the out-patient department (OPD) services from today to support the ongoing hunger strike by Dr Govinda KC, a senior professor at the IoM.

KC has been staging his fast-onto-death for the last 13 days, putting forth a 10-point demand.

The demands include sacking TU Vice-chancellor Dr Tirtha Raj Khaniya, appointing the Institute of Medicine (IOM) dean on the basis of seniority, implementation of previous agreements, not giving affiliation to any new medical colleges before the passage of the medical education bill by parliament.

Similarly, his demands also include expediting the process of impeaching Lokman Singh Karki, chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), starting investigation against CIAA Commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak, and implementation of the fee structure proposed by the Mathema Commission.
