DoCSM seeks clarification from NFC

KATHMANDU July 31: The Department of Commerce and Supply Management (DoCSM) on Wednesday directed Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) to furnish clarifications to it after it found some packs of rice without product information at the latter´s go-down in Thapathali.



A market monitoring team led by Ratnesh Shashi, section officer of DoCSM, had monitored stores and shops in Thapathali and Kalanki on Wednesday.

The team has asked NFC to furnish clarifications within seven days. It also asked NFC to maintain cleanliness in NFC premises. [break]



Meanwhile, the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DoFTQC) has taken samples of Japanese rice from NFC go-down for lab test.

The monitoring team also found that the canteen at Norvic Hospital was in operation without registering with concerned government authorities. It has asked operator of the canteen to furnish clarification at the DoCSM within seven days.



The team also instructed proprietors of Timalsina Retailers and Sakshyam Traders of Kalanki not to overwrite labels of products that they sell. It also destroyed 16 packets of expired biscuits at Hom Thapa Variety Stores.
