Discussion on Tuladhar's contribution in journalism

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: Contribution of Padmaratna Tuladhar, a leader of mission and inclusive journalism for the freedom to expression in Nepali, has been discussed. 

At an interaction organized by Nepal Journalists' National Dabu here today, speakers stressed that rights activist Tuladhar played a significant role for political changes and social transformation through journalism in the country. 

On the occasion, former Ambassador Hiranya Lal Shrestha said Tuladhar encouraged people towards democratic movement by writing news and articles in mother tongue during Panchayat system. 

Similarly, leader of the Communist Party of Nepal and senior journalist Raghuji Panta stressed that Tuladhar should not be limited only as a leader of indigenous nationalities because he played leading role from 2036 BS to the second People's Movement through journalism and politics. 

Rights activist Malla K Sundar reminded that Tuladhar was active in journalism for long to prepare people's mandate against autocratic rule while Acting Chairperson of Nepal Press Council, Kishor Shrestha, said Tuladhar fulfilled his duty of composing news to writing sharp articles. 

Saying that Tuladhar helped build people's mandate in favour of democracy by translating news disseminated by Rashtriya Samachar Samiti into Nepal Bhasa, Laxmidas Manandhar, Coordinator of Padmaratna Tuladhar Felicitation Ceremony, said Tuladhar had significant contribution in the development of journalism as well. 

Tuladhar, 77, is receiving civil felicitation coming 15 September. RSS
