Digambar Yadav is undergoing treatment at BPKIHS

DHARAN, March 7: Digambar Yadav, who sustained injury in police firing in Maleth and was reported as dead, is alive and his treatment is going on at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) .

Earlier, the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) had enlisted Yadav as deceased in its press release issued after the Maleth firing and number of medias had followed it.

Three individuals were killed when police opened fire in Maleth, Saptari to take control over the situation. The UDMF cadres were staging protest against the mass meeting of the CPN-UML as a part of the Mechi-Mahakali Campaign on Monday. Digambar Yadav along with at least 11 others had sustained injuries in the firing and later reported as dead.

However, Yadav is going under treatment on Bed Number 10 of Surgery Ward Unit -2 of the BPKIHS, Dharan. He had received bullet on his back.

According to Nepal Police Sub-InspectorI Tilak Giri at the BPKIHS confirmed that Yadav is alive and is undergoing treatment.

According to Giri, fourteen injured were brought to BPKHS after the police-protesters clash in Maleth. Among the 14, Ananda Sah and Pitambar Lal Mandal succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. Later, the body of Sanjan Sah, who died on the spot, was also brought to the BPKIHS.

Among the injured, Laxman Yadav, Arun Kumar Yadav, Jappu Shah and Dinesh Shah have already been discharged from the hospital while others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
