Diarrhea epidemic in west Dang seems coming under control

DANG, May 30: A diarrhea epidemic broke out at various parts of Shantinagar Rural Municipality- 3 and 4 in west Dang since last Saturday appears that it is gradually coming under control.

DANG, May 30: A diarrhea epidemic broke out at various parts of Shantinagar Rural Municipality- 3 and 4 in west Dang since last Saturday appears that it is gradually coming under control. 


To date, the number of the affected has reached 1,631. The local Chiradhat Health Center received 155 patients in the past five days and most of them have already returned home. Five are undergoing treatment at the center while one was referred to the Rapti Zonal Hospital.

Water supply to the settlements from the source of local Maili River has been completely stopped as the source was found contaminated with coliform bacteria which caused the epidemic. The presence of this bacteria in the river water was confirmed thorough lab test. 


According to local representative Kaman Singh Dangi, a technical team from Kathmandu was already here to purify water. Life is becoming normal. RSS
