Dharan to host East Tourism Mart in June

KHOTANG, May 5: A three-day-long East Tourism Mart 2018 has been scheduled to be held in eastern Nepali town of Dharan from June 7 to 9. The tourism mart is being organized to promote and develop the tourism industry of eastern Nepal, according to the organizers. 

Khotang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has formed a five member committee under Rajendra Layalu, president of KCCI, for the promotion of the event. The promotional committee includes Hattiram Rai, president of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Samundra Prasad Joshi, president of Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, Udam Rai, president of Tourism Conservation and Promotion Committee, and a member from the Federation of Nepalese Journalists. 

The committee, along with tourism entrepreneurs, has started promoting the event and requesting fellow tourism entrepreneurs from all 14 districts of Province 1 to participate in the event. Basudev Baral, treasurer of the organizing committee, has said that they have started district visit to call tourism entrepreneurs from Province 1 to participate in the district. The promotional team conducted a meeting in this regard in Diktel, district headquarters of Khotang, on Thursday. 

Likewise, on Friday, the committee reached Halesi Tuwachung Municipality for the promotion of the event. After that, they are scheduled to visit Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Sankhuawasabha, and other districts in the eastern region for promotion.  

Tourism entrepreneurs from districts have been requested to give information about tourism destinations and places of natural and cultural importance as well as biodiversity of their respective districts, Baral told Republica. 

"Participants of the event can showcase their tourism destinations and sell tourist attractions of their district," Baral said. "We may develop tourism packages in such destinations." 
This is going to be the second edition of the East Tourism Mart. The first edition was organized in Kathmandu.
