Dharan-based BPKIHS reports two COVID-19 related deaths

DHARAN, Aug 19: Two women succumbed to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Sunsari in the past 24 hours.

A 71-year-old woman from Dharan-15 breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) at 11:15 AM today, according to BPKIHS spokesperson Dr Dinesh Sapkota.

She was admitted to the BPKIHS after she complained of breathing difficulties and high fever. She was also a heart patient. Her throat swab was collected and sent for testing which came out positive for COVID-19 earlier last week, Sapkota said.

Likewise, another woman from Budhiganga, Morang, was brought to the BPKIHS at 2AM on Tuesday, breathed her last at 5PM on Tuesday. She was taken there after she complained of breathing difficulties and high fever.

Initially, she was admitted to the Birat Medical College in Biratnagar after testing positive for the virus. Her throat swab was collected after her daughter, who was an employee at the Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, got infected with coronavirus. Her daughter and granddaughter are undergoing treatment at the BPKIHS after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
