KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The International Taekwondo Federation has honored Anjan Dhamala, president of Nepal ITF Taekwondo Federation, with ‘International Instructor’ award on Monday.
Dhamala was given the award during the 27th General Congress of the International Taekwondo Federation for his “outstanding contribution” to the ITF. The Congress was held in Plamodiv, Bulgaria.
After receiving the award, Dhamala vowed to further contribute in the development of taekwondo.

“This award has further motivated me. I will move ahead in a planned way for the development of Nepal ITF,” he said.
A former national athlete, Dhamala is serving as the vice-president of South Asian ITF as well.
Dhamala has been credited for nurturing players from the remote areas of the country during his tenure as a president of Nepal ITF. He has already worked for nearly two decades in the same fraternity, first as a player and then in administration.
He also led the smooth organization of Asian ITF Championship held in Nepal which was participated by 22 nations in 2014.
The Congress has also decided to hold the 22nd ITF World Championship 2021 in China. Likewise, the next edition to be held in 2023 has been awarded to Italy after it defeated India in open voting.
Fourteen Nepali athletes are set to participate in the ongoing 21st edition of the World Taekwondo championship that started on Monday in Bulgaria.
