Departmental sides emerged victorious

SUNSARI, Dec 19: Departmental teams Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club continued their winning run in women's football under the Seventh National Games on Monday. 

In the matches held at Duhabi, Sunsari, Police eased past Western Region 4-0 while Army registered 3-0 win over Eastern Region. 

Niru Thapa, Yaosdha Lama, Srijana Khadka and Manju Gurung netted one goal each for Police as it registered second consecutive win in Group A. Police took early lead after Niru's second minute opener minute while Yasodha doubled the advantage for departmental team in the 19th minute. Similarly, Srijana notched the third goal for her team in the very first minute after break. Manju added another in 57th minute which saw Police seal the comprehensive victory. Yaosdha of the winning side was declared the player-of-the-match. 

Similarly, in the second match of the day in Group B, Army overcame home team with two second half goals from Indira Rai after opener from Sushmita Tamang. Army went ahead in the game with Sushmita's goal in the 16th minute. The home team had a chance to equalize in the 24th minute when referee awarded penalty after Army's Bimala Chaudhary handed the ball inside the zone. However, Eastern's Kopila Dhimal couldn't direct the ball into the post. 

The departmental team extended its lead by 2-0 in the second half with a spectacular free-kick goal from Indira in the 54th minute. Indira netted her personal second in 72nd minute as Army sealed the victory 3-0. Indira was declared the player-of-the-match for her two goals. 

On Tuesday, Far-Western Region will face Armed Police Force (APF) while Central Region and Mid-Western Region will battle in another match on same day.
