KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The number of dengue infections across the country has exceeded 14,000.
According to Dr Gokarna Prasad Dahal, head of the Vector Borne Disease Division at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), dengue infections have been reported in 14,975 people across the country.
He stated that the recent rainfall has led to an increase in dengue infections. So far, dengue has been reported in all districts except Humla. There have been seven fatalities due to dengue infection to date.

Highest number of infections in Gandaki Province
The highest number of dengue infections has been reported in Gandaki Province, with 6,920 cases according to the EDCD.
In Koshi Province, there have been 1,329 cases, in Madhesh Province 286 cases, in Bagmati Province 489 cases, in Lumbini Province 995 cases, in Karnali Province 220 cases, and in Sudurpashchim Province 736 cases of dengue infections.
Over 2,000 infected in the valley
In the Kathmandu Valley, dengue infections have been reported in 2,998 people. In Kathmandu district, there are 1,986 cases, in Bhaktapur 223 cases, and in Lalitpur 489 cases of dengue infection.
The Ministry of Health and Population has urged that, due to the increase in dengue infections, cleaning should be carried out every Friday in government and non-government offices as well as hospital premises, and a campaign to "search and destroy mosquitoes" should be conducted.
