Delhi United into semifinals of Khaptad Gold Cup

DHANGADHI, Jan 10: Indian team Delhi United has reached the semifinal of Sudur Paschim Khaptad Gold Cup Football Tournament defeating Sahara Club of Pokhara 3-2 on Monday.

On the same day Kathmandu based Sankata Club registered 2-1 victory over Jagadamba Lumbini Football Club to book its place in the quarterfinal. 

In the quarterfinal match played at Dhangadhi stadium, Sandip, Thopi and Lago scored one goal each for the winning side Delhi United while Uttam Gurung and Samson replied for Sahara. 

Visiting Delhi United took the driving seat as early as in the 10th minute through Sandip. Sahara stored the parity four minutes later with Uttam Gurung's goal. Delhi United notched two more goals in second half as Thapi and Lago netted in 46th and 50th minute respectively. Sahara's Samson cut the deficit in the 71st minute however he couldn't prevent his side from losing the match 3-2. Delhi United's Thope was declared the-man-of-the-match. 

Similarly in the second match of the day, Jagadamba Lumbini lost the match to Sankata Club after it failed to preserve 1-0 lead. Ritesh Malla gave lead to the Jagadamba Lumbini scoring in the stoppage time of the first half. But Jagadamba Lumbini's Purna Gurung's own goal in the 64th minute gave lifeline to Sankata. The Kathmandu based A division outfit netted the other goal in the 78th minute through Sumit KC to seal the victory.
