Deep Shrestha enthralls Thamel

It was a rainy and chilly Thursday evening. Amidst such chilly ambiance, legendary singer, Deep Shrestha enthralled Thamel with his voice. He was celebrating his golden jubilee as a singer with Drishti band.

Organized by Hankook Sarang—Korean eatery based on Thamel on the 16th anniversary of their establishment, Shrestha began the gig with ‘Ma pathar ko Devata hoina'. This is the song with which Shrestha has stepped into the Nepali music realm back in 2025 BS. Shrestha then performed his hit numbers including ‘Jhaskiyechha Maan Mero’, ‘Badal Haru’, and ‘Kati Kamjor Rahecha Bhagya’.

Throughout his performance, Yangzum Sherpa—the host of the event invited Drishti, Shrestha’s daughter on the stage for a joint performance. With his daughter, Shrestha performed three numbers including ‘Jati Hannsun Bhanchhu’, ‘Aashu Ma Dubchhu’. 

It was a jam-packed venue where audiences enjoyed Shrestha’s performance with the relish of Korean cuisine. 

He then took a short break after singing almost 12 songs. During the break, he shared some incidents about his Terhathume Dhaka coat. “I was attired in Terhathume coat for this event. Thank god it’s raining, otherwise, I will be dying.” Shrestha said.
During an interval, the organizer surprised him by cutting a cake. After the cake-ceremony, the organizer gifted him a Dhaka topi.

To celebrate his 50th anniversary, his wife and two daughters including various renowned singer Yogeshwor Amataya, musician Nhyoo Bajracharya, singer Uday Sotang had attended the gig.

After the interval, he continued his performance with ‘Ma Ta Door Dekhi Aaye’. He then sang till midnight. At the end of the show, he congratulated the organizer and said that this kind of event energizes him. “Thank you so much for inviting me. It gives me the energy to continue in the music field.”
One of the owners of Hankook Sarang, Suraj Gurung informed that the restaurant will organize more of such events to felicitate legendary musicians. “This is only the beginning.  Since artists are jewels of the nation, we are planning to host such events inviting veteran singers every month.”
