2018: A Year of Implementation of Federalism

As this past year 2018 remained eventful on global politics, Nepal too witnessed remarkable moments that it was the year of elections and implementation of federalism. 

21 rhinos die due to accidents and aging in less than six months

The first five and half months of the current fiscal year as in the past produced a disappointing situation for the Chitwan National Park (CNP) in regard to the case of rhinos. Despite the report of no cases of rhino poaching in the CNP in the past two years, the stakeholders concerned are yet to find the atmosphere conducive to the celebrations in view of the rising number of deaths of the endangered wildlife. To date, 21 rhinos died in accidents, and owing to old age. 

PHC conducts hearing for CJ nominee Rana 

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) conducted the hearing for Chief Justice nominee Cholendra Sumsher Rana.

NEA cancels contract on New Khimti-Bahrabise transmission line

A contract for the first section (New Khimiti-Bahrabise) under the Tamakoshi-Kathmandu 400 KV transmission line has been canceled, citing the violation of the terms and conditions. 

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent a letter to South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Sunday calling for more peace talks between the leaders in the new year following their active engagement in 2018, South Korea’s presidential office said.

Cyber attack hits U.S. newspaper distribution

A cyber attack caused major printing and delivery disruptions on Saturday at the Los Angeles Times and other major U.S. newspapers, including ones owned by Tribune Publishing Co (TPCO.O) such as the Chicago Tribune and Baltimore Sun.
