DHADING, Feb 13: Santosh Yadav, the son of irrigation secretary Ramanand Prasad Yadav, who was killed in Saturday's jeep plunge into Trishuli River in Dhading district, has still been missing in the river after the accident.

Secretary Yadav's son, although presumed dead, still remains missing. While the dead bodies of secretary Yadav and Unnati Gupta, his friend's daughter, were recovered on the day of the accident, the missing 22-year-old Santosh has not been found, dead or alive.

Search efforts are ongoing around the accident site but without any result. The muddy unclear water of Trishuli River and its depth have posed difficulties in search efforts, saidPolice Inspector Krishna Sapkota of District Traffic Police Office, Gajuri.

“We have mobilized police personnel for the search and rescue mission. We are focusing around the accident site but to no avail,” said Sapkota, adding that the chance of finding him would decrease as the days pass.

The accident had taken place at Salanghat of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-4 in Dhading along the Prithivi Highway. Over 10,000 vehicles drive along Prithivi Highway on a daily basis. The highway has been recording high number of accidents due to the narrow road and its bad condition, overtaking and over-speeding.

The ill-fated jeep driven by Secretary Yadav, which had left Kapilvastu on Friday evening, had skidded off the road and plunged into the Trishuli River early on Saturday.
