ITAHARI, April 5: Cameroon’s Dauphins Football Club has entered the final of the ongoing third Manmohan Duhabi Gold Cup football tournament defeating Jhapa’s Kakarbhitta Football Training Center 3-0 in Itahari on Thursday.
In the second semifinal match played at the Duhabi Stadium, three different players scored a goal each for the Cameroonian side to fix its final clash with the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club.
Dauphins was dominant throughout the match which seemed like one-sided after the Cameroon side maintained proper control with counter attacking football. The win was easy for Dauphins as Kakarbhitta could not continue its usual performance against a strong-looking Dauphins team.
Dauphins took the lead inside the first 10 minutes of the match as Onguin JR converted the pass, while it doubled its lead in the 32nd minute through Patenga.
The visiting team scored the third goals in the 38th minute as Tina Tina converted for the winning team.
Dauphins into Duhabi Gold Cup semis
Dauphins will now take on Army in the final on Saturday.
Onguin JR was named the man of the match for his goal and his overall performance and was rewarded with Rs 10,000.
Dauphins local manager Aashik Thapa Magar said that the tactics to play counter attack in the right way made the win look easier. “We were successful in winning the match by playing better than we expected despite one of our players was injured and missed the match,’’ said Magar. “We looked weak in the midfield in the match, but we will now try to fix that issue in the final.’’
Kakarbhitta team coach Min Bahadur Basnet blamed the loss on his keeper and two foreign forwards. “The keeper made a mistake which led to a goal and two of our forwards did not finish the chances we got,’’ said Basnet.
He added that the players could not get enough rest before the match as they have been playing many tournaments regularly.
